Beautiful winter weekend getaway!!!

Date of Stay:

I had the great pleasure of staying in this beautiful house from January 16 through January 19 with 12 of my friends. We are all between the ages of 27 and 30 and this was the perfect winter weekend getaway! Let me start by saying that when we drove up to the snow covered house we immediately were in awe with how gorgeous and secluded it was. Stepping inside, we were even more blown away by the vast amount of space! The first floor has a huge game room (with a dance stage...that's right...a stage to dance on), a pool table, a foosball table and a bar. The main floor has a beautiful living room complete with comfortable furniture and so much space for all of us! We even got to enjoy the Patriots beat the Colts in the AFC Championship game :) There is a spacious bedroom on the first floor as well, along with a dining area, a kitchen and a living room. On the third floor, there are even more bedrooms...and all of a great size. We even had complete access to the washer and dryer on the floor (which came in handy to wash everyone's towels throughout the weekend). There is also a lofted area above the third floor with additional beds and sleeping space. Again...I can't stress enough how much space there was for all of us...we were more than impressed. The hot tub off the kitchen is FANTASTIC. What is a better way of spending an evening in the snow than in a hot tub...while the snow is falling from the sky? Amazing. Quiet. Lovely. I can't stress enough how much space this place had for all of was perfect. We did go skiing one of the days as well. We avoided driving an hour to go to the "popular" ski mountains and drove just 2 miles down the street to Snow Bowl mountain. It was PERFECT! We didn't have to wait in any lines...the conditions were great with mostly powder..and there were so many trails open. The lift tickets and rental prices were at least half the price of some of the major mountains was great. Some of my friends also checked out the local breweries in town...lots of fun things to do! To top it all off...the owners of the house are so sweet and Kris was a pleasure to work with leading up to our stay. We all agree....can't wait to go back next year!! Submitted Jan 27, 2015

Great house! Perfect for large groups and for entertaining.

Date of Stay:

We stayed here with my extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, children, etc.). It was perfect! It's spacious, with large bedrooms and plenty of entertaining space. The house is well-stocked for a large group (plenty of dishes, pots, towels, etc.) and there are a ton of extras (games, videos, a game room, etc.). The owners couldn't have been nicer. They promptly and cheerfully answered every question we had (we had a lot!). They also made sure the driveway was regularly plowed (it snowed quite a bit while we were there). We had such a good time that my parents want to rent the house next year for a family reunion and my son's friends want to rent it for a college reunion! I'm sure we'll be back!

Thank you! We are happy you stayed with us. Hope you think of us again for another time. God Bless, Kris

Date of Stay:

Back in September 2014, we embarked on a search for a weekend house for 10-15 people. As soon as we saw the Stone River Lodge in Ripton, VT, we knew it was ideal. We immediately booked Stone River Lodge, and all we had to do was wait for July 9th, 2015 when we would be reunited with first cousins, and newly introduced to first cousins from Washington state and California. There was plenty of room for everyone. We placed two cots for two thirteen year olds next to windows overlooking forests. There was plenty of space for all, and plenty of comfortable beds. There were plenty of towels. We loved having the washer/dryer on the second floor. The air conditioning was a plus because it became very humid in VT! The pine and fir wood work, fabulous lighting, speaker system from floor to floor and high ceilings, made this a weekend to remember for the rest of our lives. Some of us stayed up late and talked, while others were able to close the hallway door to section off voices and sleep in quiet. We continuously congregated in the kitchen, and enjoyed the hot tub immensely! The game room is a real bonus! We absolutely recommend Stone River Lodge for family reunions, gatherings of guys' and/or girls' weekends, families or friends. We loved it!

Great family getaway

Date of Stay:

This is an excellent house for a large family. The house was really spacious and provided privacy for 3 families with 4 kids. The secret room was a great entertainment for kids. We liked the master bedroom layout and remodel a lot. The house was modern, well maintained, and well stocked with towels and linens. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was near to everything. Hiking, lakes in Branbury state park, Texas Falls, Moosalamoo were very close to the house. I also enjoyed biking up the Gaps. Perfect vacation spot for every one. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a full day of adventure. Game room in the basement was great place for hanging out at night with a functioning pop-corn machine!!!! Kris the owner/manager was really responsive and many thanks for accommodating our family. I highly recommend River Stone. We loved it. Submitted Aug 14, 2015

Superb Getaway

Date of Stay:

Two extended families, one from Michigan, the other from Colorado, spent an idyllic week getting reacquainted in this beautiful Stone River Lodge set in the middle or the mountains. We couldn't have asked for more. We had lots of room, lots of amenities, lots of fun staying at this house; even the dog was happy :)! This place is a great base for day trips. One day we went to Stowe, VT where we hiked Moss Glen Falls (the best kept secret in the Green Mountains), shopped and had ice cream at Ben & Jerry's. We took the Shoream Ferry across Lake Champlain to visit Fort Ticonderoga. Quechee Gorge and Woodstock were another great day trip and of course we had to hike Mount Philo! The Lodge was perfect for packing lunches and fixing local produce dinners; there are so many markets to choose from! I highly recommend this fantastic place for groups of 10 to 20. Everyone in our group loved their week here in Ripton, VT. The hosts are terrific people, helpful, and full of info about Vermont. Edith

Fall Wedding in Vermont

Date of Stay:

Kelli R. My family had to plan a small wedding in Ripton, VT. It had to be held a year earlier than planned due to an illness in our family. The owners were fabulous and flexible and helped us immensely in making this event very special! The photos don't do this property the real justice it deserves! It is GORGEOUS and well maintained. Everything was neat and clean upon arrival and it was well equipped to handle our family of 12. I could not be any happier with our decision to rent this property! It was exquisite! I truly appreciated the ease of working with the owners and the level of communication was terrific! If you are looking at rentals for a vacation or family event in Middlebury, VT, this is your place!

Beautiful home, well maintained, we felt at home!

Date of Stay:

We enjoyed our stay. Perfect!

Date of Stay:

What a great experience we had as a family. This home is beautiful and so much room. There were 8 adults and four grandchildren ages 3-6 and what fun we had. I can't tell you how great it was to have so much space. The game room was spectacular and the granddaughters loved being in their Disney dresses dancing and acting out on "the stage". The popcorn maker was perfect! After they went to sleep, card games and relax time in the game room was a great retreat for the adults. The hidden room was fun to find and definitely used for quiet time. :) The beds were ALL so comfy! The hot tub was a plus and we just thoroughly enjoyed our down time in the home. The Robert Frost trail had a small pond that we all skated on. So much fun! Whatever you expect from this home - double it - WHAT A FANTASTIC PLACE ! We will be back!

Best escape ever!

Date of Stay:

What a wonderful place to escape to. Idyllic setting in Vermont, like a story book! Lots of space for the whole family... time for escaping & relaxing, go on adventure hikes, soak in the hot tub under the stars, BBQ & enjoy the family outdoor loving, play games an have fun with the family in the amazing game room!

Came to Vermont to celebrate our niece's wedding. Excellent place for a big group. Beautiful house

Date of Stay:

Great house for a family reunion. Lots of outdoor sitting areas. Places to get away and sit by yourself. Great kitchen for preparing big meals. Wonderful hot tub for relaxing. Really comfortable beds. Lots of lovely hiking trails nearby. Everyone had a fantastic time!! Beautiful!!

Great family place

Date of Stay:

I was "wowed" as I walked thru the house for the first time. The decor, the sizes of the rooms, the quality of the furnishings and linen were all fantastic. Our large family fit comfortably for a reunion and the Stone River Lodge will be a part of the great memories we have from our time together. Kris and Jane were very responsive and helpful for any questions or concerns. Thanks.

Beautiful property.

Date of Stay:

Very comfortable, lots of room to spread out with numerous sleeping and lounging options. The house was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, the bedding was luxurious with extra pillows and blankets. Bathrooms were clean and large, offering a variety of bathing options from handicap shower to large jacuzzi tub. Twelve of us stayed in the house easily, with room to spare. We would definitely stay at this property again!

Amazing mountain escape!

Date of Stay:

We had the pleasure of staying at the lodge over a long weekend in October, with three other families (5 kids total). Wow! What an amazing home, in a breathtaking setting. The home is very large and modern, yet cozy at the same time. Plenty of room inside and out for the kids to run around and play. The kids particularly enjoyed the game room downstairs, while the adults enjoyed the hot tub. We all enjoyed searching for the hidden room (which we found, and the kids got a real kick out of). The house is fully stocked with games, towels and linens, and pots and pans - we really didn't need to bring a thing other than food. The lodge is conveniently located to hiking, wineries, breweries, etc. Kris (the owner) is great and always very responsive to questions. Needless to say, we did not want to leave, and look forward to staying here again!

A Magical Holiday Escape!!

Date of Stay:

What an amazing home nestled in Green Mountain State Park!!! It truly feels like you are staying in your own private ski lodge. The house is beautiful with everything you would need for a perfect getaway with family and friends or even a business team getaway. We arrived 2 days after Christmas, to find the house beautifully decorated. It is apparent that the owners, Kris & Ben, take pride in their house and want to ensure that their guests have a memorable time!!

Exceeded Expectations!

Date of Stay:

a nutshell: This home is absolutely beautiful and the owners were easy to get in touch with - and responded very quickly. About our trip: This was a multi-family vacation with friends, a total of 14: 7 adults and 7 kids, ages 16-months to 6 years old. The size of this home is very accommodating to large groups and there are so many areas to explore. Our kids loved running around all over, up and down the stairs, the playroom in the main living room, reading books by the gas fireplace after hiking/skiing/sledding, the first floor game room, and especially the secret room. Bonus features we loved: fenced in yard, hot tub, heated floors in the mudroom, the stained glass window, and hiking trails a short distance from the house. We all agreed this is the perfect spot for us - and we'll be coming back. Thank you, Kris and Ben for opening your beautiful home to us! We hope to see you again next year :)

Plenty of space!

Date of Stay:

We were a big group- 8 kids and 8 adults, but even so it was easy to get lost in the house. The layout takes some getting used to, but it's pretty convenient for a large group. The "secret room" will make any other rental house pale in comparison in the eyes of all the kids! The front yard is spacious for lawn games. The patio(s) are right next to the road, but they are fenced off and it's a mountain road- so not super busy. The drive to Burlington is beautiful and easy. It's a great space for a big group! We had a blast!

Great Family Getaway!

Date of Stay:

The house and grounds are beautiful! Everyone had a great time and plenty of space to roam or find a little privacy of their own. We had 14 people and still had room for more. I would highly recommend this property. The owners responded to me immediately to answer my question. There was plenty to do inside and outside. Perfect for large groups.

Date of Stay:

We were in Vermont for a family winter vacation and to bring in the New Year. What a delightful time we all had at the Lodge! The rooms were spacious and very nicely appointed (the Christmas tree and additional holiday decorations created a warm and cozy atmosphere), and very clean! There was plenty of room for all of us to read, play games, cook, talk, and simply enjoy each others company. If we return to the area for another winter getaway, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Lodge again.

Amazing house!

Date of Stay:

This house was great! We fit 12 adults, an infant and a toddler. Everyone had plenty of space. The game room is great and we used the hot tub quite often. The back yard is a nice little oasis. The 3 and a half bathrooms definitely came in handy for our group. The house is immaculate and nicely updated. It is is about 40 minutes from Sugarbush if you ski but the Snow Bowl is right down the street which is a great little mountain. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

Thank You!

Date of Stay:

This house was a wonderful place for a large group. Warm, welcoming and fun!

Mountain Views

Date of Stay:

Just a gorgeous setting in the mountains and when it was too cold the kids (and the grownups) spent time playing foosball, pool, and cards in the play room. Immaculately clean and the radiant heat kept the house a cozy warm even with cold temps outside. The house itself is very intricate and has lots of detail making it really enjoyable to explore. I would recommend the River Stone Lodge to anyone.

It was a blast

Date of Stay:

I had an absolute blast! I stayed with almost my whole family. There were 12 of us, and we stayed up late playing board games, then spent a day discovering Middlebury!
